Mitchell Klement, M.D., is a board certified fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee surgery at Orthopaedic Associates of Wisconsin in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Klement is an expert in performing muscle-sparing anterior total hip replacement, total knee replacement, and robotic-assisted partial knee replacement. He also specializes in complex first-time hip and knee replacements as well as revision, or “re-do” joint replacement surgery. Dr. Klement utilizes rapid recovery programs to facilitate a faster recovery and minimize pain for his patients.
Dr. Klement was born and raised in central Wisconsin and received his degree in medicine from Georgetown University. After completing a residency in orthopedic surgery at Duke University, he received specialty training in hip and knee replacements at the world-renowned Rothman Institute. Dr. Klement then joined Orthopaedic Associates of Wisconsin to share his training and expertise with his home state and the great people of Wisconsin.
Dr. Klement has been actively involved in the research community. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. His work has focused on making patients safer for surgery, avoiding infection, reducing pain after knee replacement, robotic partial knee surgery, and anterior hip surgery. His research has been presented at multiple national and international meetings. He also serves as an active reviewer for the leading journal regarding hip and knee replacements, The Journal of Arthroplasty, as well as the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
For his dedication to patients and research, Dr. Klement has won numerous clinical and research awards at Duke and national meetings. He is a member of the Emerging Leaders Forum, whose mission is to develop leaders to guide the future of musculoskeletal care. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS). He is also a lifetime member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society.
Dr. Klement believes in treating patients in the same manner that he would like to be treated, with compassion, empathy, respect, and understanding. He will use the latest advancements to alleviate pain and enhance recovery. He takes great pride in treating the easiest sprain to the most complex redo surgery to help get patients back on their feet.
